Thanks for the summary of your process. I found this very interesting! I can totally see the elements that led to your game's success. I created Mountain Resonance in isolation and am only now trying to create a community for it. Your way is definitely the way to go!

Of course! Yeah I think building a community as you go is the way to go

It’s always so interesting to see how the sausage is made - thanks for sharing! It’s quite inspiring to see the rough elements coalescing into the final polished product- I always imagine that everyone else’s process is so much more organised and clinical than my own! Can’t wait to start my own playthrough of Gloam.

I´m one of those who saw the character sheets and replied to it. It´s amazing to see what you´ve turned it into. As a fellow artist, your lay-out and illustrations are outstanding...but it´s the speed by which you completed this that is madness. Now I need an article on decision making and focus :D

Thanks for being here! I actually wanted to release it on Feb 14th but that turned out to be impossible

Showing your thoughts throughout your design was fascinating. I love tinkering and potentially designing things as well. So from Mid-November to May 1st, what surprised you the most about the design process? (ie... Did the rules take a long time to nail down, was going through public art tedious, playtesting, etc..)

The Lone Legend's avatar

Yeah, finding art was probably the most tedious thing here. Overall though it was a rather fun experience

Awesome. I am playing hidden Isle, the only other tarot based RPG I know but I think this has a better resolution for Soloplay. Very intrigued by the wound based combat. It's what drove me to check savage worlds and the broken empire

Nice to get a better perspective of this amazing game and your creative process. Thank you for sharing. Looking to pick up Gloam when I can.

Fantastic read Sam! Appreciate you and this game! It's given me a whole new perspective on RPGs and the vibes are contagious!

Gloam’s not cursed (at least in any way I can see), I’ve just been a bit lazy and overworked. More playtesting is a-comin’!

The Lone Legend's avatar

Completely understandable, I meant no offense!

None taken, I’m quite aware of my flaw where I put down a project and never pick it back up and have been fighting it for a long time

Thanks for sharing this! Love to see the creative journey. I look forward to seeing a custom tarot deck 👀

And regarding the footnote, I have been working on my own game recently so my actual plays have fallen to the side! 😂

The Lone Legend's avatar

Hahaha I figured it was something like that 😂 glad you’re well! Now I’m super excited to see your game

Thanks! It's bloomed into a much bigger project than I initially intended!!
